The Facebook Local app just launched, so if you’re running workshops and training events to get coaching clients for your coaching business then listen up!
Facebook just dropped some news about their new Facebook Local app on iPhone and Android that will undoubtedly help you fill those empty seats at your event.
In context: Facebook first launched an Events app just over a year ago in 2016. It was useful for seeing Facebook event invites and event updates from your friends in one place, but that was it… it ended up being underused and a bit hit or miss. I for one didn’t use it.
So… Facebook has just announced that they have completely overhauled the Events app and replaced it with an app called Facebook Local.
Facebook Local basically combines events and places in an app, like a search engine, whereby the content is fed from Facebook’s 70 million+ business pages… and it even includes Facebook reviews and Facebook place check-ins.
Users of the app will be able to search for events nearby or in a specific location that have been published to a Facebook page, and filter those results according to their interests and/or requirements — awesome.
In other words, if you’re not already using the power of Facebook’s business pages, groups and events functionality… you’re going to miss out BIG TIME — I warned you.
Facebook Local is already being tipped by some social media experts as an Eventbrite and Yelp killer… and that’s a huge statement.
I certainly envisage that the Facebook Local app will soon be the number one place to not only list your events and workshops but to also sell tickets directly inside the app — not to mention the fact that Facebook will inevitably open up the app to advertisers looking to promote their event to a specific target audience and/or location too.
The possibilities are endless.
So what should you do to prepare right now?
If you don’t have a Facebook page for your business/brand, get one. It’s totally free, there’s no excuse and it’s better to be late than never.
Facebook Local has already launched in the USA so if you’re stateside go get the app and check it out.
If you’re in the UK, there is not currently a scheduled Facebook Local UK release date, but it will undoubtedly be very soon.
